Holy Smokes, Erica!!!

You left your black bra on with that beautiful white backless dress!!  Ooops!!  Tres faux pas, baby!!

Darlings, my head is spinning and it ain’t from the rum this time.  Life has just been a total roller coaster lately and I’m lucky if I know what day it is any more.  After mom got home from the hospital, she did well for a couple of days, then started feeling puny.  I took her in for her 1 week check today and they said her oxygen saturation was low.  They put her on some oxygen for a while and she perked up, that little addict (well, I guess technically, we’re all oxygen addicts), so since she seemed to be doing well in all other areas, the doctor ordered in home oxygen therapy for her, so she has to wheel around one of those little tanks and have an aquarium tube stuck up her nose.  She seems to feel much better and the pink is back in her little cheeks again.  I told her I was going to put rocks in her little cart so she could build up her muscles while she hauls it around.  She’s not doing much hauling now.  She’s been sticking pretty close to bed since being in the hospital last week.  

Before now, her room has been upstairs, the same room she shared with my dad over 40 years ago.  About a year ago, we moved a hospital bed into our parlor with my computer desk and the TV.  She had a little black and white TV up in her room that isn’t connected to cable or anything.  She did dual time in both rooms, staying upstairs when she felt like having me help her up the stairs and staying in the parlor when she didn’t.  This weekend, she decided she wanted to set up her room permanently in the parlor, so Vince (Kye’s husband, my brother-in-law) came over and helped me move her furniture in and the parlor furniture out.  Kye helped her set up her personal furniture and decorations in the room (it really, really looks lovely) and changed out the curtains and such so that it gave the room more of a personal feel than what a living room would have.  The parlor has beautiful bay windows that look out onto the herb gardens and away from the road, so I think she’ll love it.  I know it was hard for her to make the decision, but I think she’ll be OK.  She’s one of those people for whom “once the deciding is done, the doing becomes effortless.”  (Pfft.  Effortless for HER anyway.  She just had to sit there and watch while Vince and I wrestled her 9000 pound antique furniture out of the room and down the stairs.  Our house is very old and has tiny doorways!!)  It’s the wrangling with a decision that takes the strength out of her.  I set up an office in her room and now I have the little black and white and she has the big color TV with the remote control and cable (how the hell THAT happened, I dunno!!).  She seems to be feeling well tonight and thinks she’s going to sleep OK.  I’ll probably take the couch for a few nights so I can keep a better eye on her.  I'm not sure I could hear her in my room if she needed me and if her bedroom/parlor door is open, I can be more aware of how she's doing.

It was a struggle to get her to go back in to the doctor, but I had a feeling she really needed to go and as low as her saturation levels were, I’m glad she did.  I wanted to share with you all that YOU were the reason I was able to get her to go.  I told her she really needed to get to some oxygen and if she didn’t, she was going to end up having another spell, then I’d need to take care of her and wouldn’t be able to get my column done and “her girls” would be disappointed!  She said she’d go “for the girls” so that I could get the column done (as it is, I’m running very late, as you all know).  So just know that you made a really great impact on a crotchety little old woman in California.  :)

AMC 

Yep, it’s official.  Josh Duhamel will be leaving AMC with a final airdate of October 17^th, the same day as his TV mom, Marj Dussay.  His last scenes have already been filmed.  From what we have been told, Vanessa ends up kidnapping Greenlee and Leo tracks them to a cave.  Sadly, our source tells us that Leo’s memorial service has been filmed.   Whether it’s for real or he’s faked his death remains to be seen.  

Because of a fairly persistent rumor, I have been throwing out feelers into both the AMC and GH camps and I’m getting the same response.  Huh??  Everything seems to indicate that Finola Hughes will NOT be leaving AMC in favor of GH after the first of the year.  I’ll be the first to admit that I could be catching a snow job of Alaskan proportions but all I’m hearing is how happy she is at AMC, how she won’t return unless it’s a brief stint and that she’s not eager to leave the dynamic she has set up with Vincent Irizzary.  In fact, when he could have easily punted the question, VI himself said that she had no plans to leave at this time and had just signed a new contract.  Unless ABC is getting ready to pull the big surprise, my guess is she’s staying in the valley. 

Aiden and “Mareaer” will be locking lips before long.  All the Edmund pressure in the world might not be enough to force his wife back to who she was. 

OLTL 

So what else can we do between 1-2pm weekdays??  With the Jen Rappaport Hour well underway, don’t expect a break any time soon.  I can tell you this, she actually does get Cris all the way to the altar for the “I do’s,” but will this be another case of matrimonial interruptus for Jen?  One can only hope.   Meanwhile, let’s get to some pictures of the happy couple: 

In case you missed it, that is Barbara Niven playing Liz Reynolds, mom of Keri and One Night Stand Woman for Antonio.  You can read her rap sheet here.  More than one astute viewer noticed that OLTL has done some embryo relocating in the past when Samantha met with misfortune in a hot tub and although brain dead and comatose, was kept alive long enough to snatch her little sambryo from her dying womb and let it set up housing in the warm, waiting and very alive uterus of Delilah, who went on to marry Rafe Garretson, Sammi’s (who the sambryo would become) daddy and Samantha’s loving widower.  Just remember that there are only perhaps 10-12 basic stories that are constantly rewritten with bells and whistles to look original, or sometimes…not.  I have to say that the acting has been superb on the part of everyone concerned, but I’m afraid the story does more than suspend reality for me.  It puts a jet pack on its back and shoots it into the stratosphere. 

Roger Howarth will be working both OLTL and Dawson’s Creek for a while until his days on Creek run out.  Don’t count Blair and Todd as down and out just yet.  

Don’t expect to know Troy’s great secret any time soon.  Lindsay will not just be holding it over his head, but ours as well for quite.   some.   time.   

GH 

After Jax is shot by Alcazar (and Brenda lets go with some rage on Sonny for using Jax as bait to lure out Alcazar) at Brenda’s cottage, Skye goes to the hospital to be with her husband and finds someone already at his side.  

Feeling insecure about Brenda’s sudden involvement in their life, Alcazar makes his move and woos Skye into helping him break up the couple.  When Jax finds out that Skye has stepped into Alcazar’s camp, there might not be any coming back for Sax.  As you can imagine, the unfolding of the story is going to be heavily dependent on what happens with Vanessa Marcil’s contract.  Guza has said he is NOT above recasting if she decides to leave.  Is he baked?  What is carrying this story is NOT the writing, but the chemistry between Ingo and VM, as well as VM’s history with the show.  I just don’t see a recast as being, well, interesting.  I say that as a not very big fan of Brenda’s, but objectively as a dispassionate viewer. 

Ingo is thrilled to get some bed time in his paralysis story since as he puts it, he’s not been in the hospital since he began on the show.  I guess they had to get Zander out of town to free up a bed for him. 

Look for the attic story to heat up again at the end of October when Tony Geary returns from his vacation and Luke comes back to Port Charles.  He and Alexis will be teaming up to reveal the real killer.  (It ain’t Laura, honey)  Rick’s ghost will be popping up a bit here and there as well.  But where, oh where is Lesley?   We heard Luke telling Lucky that Bobbie was taking care of LuLu and we never saw or heard about Lesley during the whole “Laura’s going crazy” story, even when Laura was begging for her mom!  So where IS Lesley?? 

Liason Lovers, nothing has changed from what I’ve heard.  They are supposedly still a go for November sweeps (will we care by November at this rate?) and the connection with Courtney (who is promised to Coleman, so don’t confuse the couples here) is just a red herring to get all of you in an uproar.  In fact, it will likely be his connection with Courtney that is the final nail in the coffin of Courtney and AJ as she defends Jason’s help and AJ goes through the roof.  

Nope, Coleman is not the stalker.  He will probably be the one who takes the stalker down, but you’ll be kept wondering until the last minute.  A couple of our EOS columnists have called for suggestions for a first name for Coleman.  My favorite?  Dabney.  LOL. 

Bobbie might be finding a love interest from someone new in town and rumors suggest that Flea might also find love right on the tail of Roy leaving town (she’s never really been one to let the bed sheets get cold).  

Things get ugly for Carly and Sonny on October 17^th when Scott blackmails Carly into admitting that Sonny and Alexis slept together (this give Scott ammo in the DA election to allege that Alexis was guilty of unethical conduct with a client).  She feels she needs to tell Sonny the truth about the paternity of Alexis’ baby and he does NOT take it well.  Don’t worry.  It’s just a temporary road bump on the Carly and Sonny Highway of Dysfunctional Love.  Don’t count Alexis down just yet.  To the surprise of many, Ned may very well turn out to be proven to BE the father (of record) of Alexis’ baby.  Look for Sonny to make a very noble defense for his wife. 

Brenda finds out before very long that Alcazar was tricking her into believing that she has her mother’s disease when in fact, she’s quite healthy. 

Courtney gets a job offer, and not the one that you think. 

Rumors are circulating even more strongly that not long after Marissa Ramirez leaves this month, Coltin Scott and Jacob Young will follow.  CS revealed at the GH Fan Event that he and MR had been told there would be NO Nia wedding this year and since MR is leaving with no recast planned, the likelihood is that, in fact, there will be no onscreen Nia wedding at all.  While you may have heard the “double duty” rumor where MR is concerned, our sources are still saying she’s leaving.  Looks like the last of the Cassadines (well, except for Alexis, the most reluctant Cassadine) will be fading away.  Sadly, Constance Towers is still not being asked to come back to work.  Since there is also discussion of Tony Geary packing it in when his contract expires, Port Charles may actually have seen the last of the Spencers and the Cassadines, having left us with more of a whimper than a roar.  More’s the pity. 

That brief moment of AJ redemption you saw?  Don’t get used to it.  It’s done.  

Watch for Monica to make a brazen move on the thug holding her for Alcazar when she is unable to signal Alan in any other way that she’s in big trouble!  It’s about time Monica got some new action!
