My name is Stephanie, and I’m an AMC-aholic.  You reply, “Hi, Stephanie!”  I’ve been a fan of AMC off and on since the days of Nico & Cecily (before they went on that Mrs. America tour and their story went south), and have been watching the show regularly for the last 5 years.  I’m privileged to share my thoughts, rants, and fits of rage about our favorite show with you and I welcome yours as well.

Here are a few things you should know about me, I’m an instant gratification type of gal.  The first things I check out are the spoilers.  I am a subscriber to Soap Opera Digest and like to know what’s coming down the pike before I view it on my TV screen.  So, some of the stuff you read in my column may preview stories to come (as I hear or read about them).  If you’re like my friend Judith who is never caught up, you may want to read my stuff with caution.  There’s some upcoming story info below, so continue reading at your own peril.

I’ll start with the devastating break-up of my favorite AMC couple, David and Erica.  This couple really grew on me to the point where I almost forgot how uncomfortable Erica looked during her first few love scenes with David.  I think they are perfect for each other and I loved the way David handled her and kept her down to earth, well as much as Ms. Kane would allow.  I’ve already read the fall previews and am dreading the possible Dixie/David/Tad/Liza storyline.

Speaking of Dixie, you’ll never hear me whistling her praises.  Ever since the Stuart amnesia story – fallout from the way too sanctimonious Tad and his way too annoying wife Dixie – my tolerance for this gal continues to wear thin.  These Martins need to ease up on their buttinskiness and head to the back burner.  I haven’t liked Tad in months, except when he took the blame for Stuart’s “death” but his conscience cleared a little too quickly for me.

The Stuart amnesia story blows.  I was happy to read that Stu is on his way back to Pine Valley and a reunion with Adam is on the horizon.  While I’m not crazy about Arlene, she’s definitely added some spice to the lives of her loathed ones; I mean loved ones, and helped move things along story-wise.  I really felt for poor Adam and think that he quickly became the victim in all of this and certainly was punished and then some.

And for that I blame Ms. Liza Colby, who was just as guilty as Adam once she learned of Colby’s paternity and still tried to have her “Jake” and eat it too.  What does she get?  Chandler Enterprises, full custody of her daughter, Adam’s money, his power of attorney, the list goes on.  I do have to say that I liked Adam and Liza (more than any of his other wives) and think they are a good match.  I’m quite tired of Liza and Tad and don’t want to see them together at work or play.

On to the younger generation, I didn’t like Greenlee in the beginning, especially when she was after Scott (who I just can’t stand, what a wanker that guy is!).  But now, I think she’s da bomb!  Greenlee and Leo are two peas in a pod and I love how they don’t see it - yet.  I’m not crazy about Becca’s 180 with Leo once she found out Scott created the Virgin Victor website.  That story was a waste of a couple of weeks.  As for Becca’s virginity, don’t tell me she’s going to throw it out the window so quickly.  What’s up with the writers trying to sex her up all of a sudden?  (I’m referring to her black teddy attempt to get a confession out of Leo and her lusty fantasies of rubbing suntan lotion on his hot bod.)  Is the appearance of the virgin Bianca cutting in on Becca’s territory?

I must say that the new Miss Bianca does have me curious.  What’s her issue?  She’s holding something back and I want to know what it is, and I want to know NOW!  (There’s that instant gratification I was telling you about.)  I’ve always felt indifference toward this character, I don’t dig how she’s so caught up in Erica’s love life and always concerned that Erica’s failed relationships are her fault.  That’s just not normal.  I wish she possessed more of her mother’s qualities and less of Barbara and Travis’ traits.  She’d be a great snotty little witch and could generate some fabulous stories.  She’d better not keep mentioning her horse, yawn.

Well, I better wrap things up.  Sorry for the rants, but these things needed to be said.  Next time, I’ll discuss Brooke the bore and her almost-boyfriend/daughter’s killer, Jackson’s lack of a Pine Valley life, Palmer and Vanessa, Alex & Dimitri & Edmund, etc.  I’ll talk to you soon!
